The aircraft belonged to Angara Airlines, a Siberian carrier. It was an An-24 model and had gone missing from radar while it was approaching the town of Tynda, located near the border with China. Vasily Orlov, the regional governor, confirmed that the flight vanished from radar screens shortly before its expected landing.

Search operations later confirmed the crash. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
