PAK vs BAN 1st ODI Highlights: Bangladesh 115/2, Pakistan 114 | Bangla Tigers Win By 8 Wickets

From overs 6 to 9, Bangladesh national cricket team kept the chase under control as Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Najmul Hossain Shanto scored freely. Bangladesh moved from 47/1 (6 overs) to 59/1 (7 overs), 71/1 (8 overs), and 78/1 (9 overs), with Tamim hitting two sixes and Shanto adding quick boundaries.

After Pakistan were bundled out for just 114 runs, Bangladesh have started off well as they have put up 37 runs on the board with the loss of just a wicket in 5 overs. Tanzim Hasan Tamim and Najmul Hossain Shanto are the batters, who are at the crease for the hosts and are in a commanding position to win the match.

From overs 19 to 25, Bangladesh national cricket team tightened their grip on the match with disciplined bowling. Nahid Rana and Mehidy Hasan Miraz kept the scoring in check as Faheem Ashraf and Hussain Talat struggled to build momentum, with Pakistan reaching 72/6 after 21 overs. Miraz then delivered a crucial blow in the 22nd over, dismissing Talat and Shaheen Afridi lbw to reduce Pakistan national cricket team to 81/8. Soon after, Taskin Ahmed removed Mohammad Wasim, leaving Pakistan reeling at 82/9 after 23 overs. Although Faheem Ashraf briefly counterattacked with two boundaries off Miraz in the 25th over, Pakistan could only recover to 91/9 after 25 overs, still under heavy pressure.

Rana gaining praise! 

The 17th over from Mehidy Hasan Miraz was extremely tight for Bangladesh national cricket team. Salman Agha managed a single off the first ball, while Hussain Talat struggled to score and defended the remaining deliveries. Pakistan crawled to 65/4 after 17 overs. The 18th over saw Nahid Rana continue his remarkable spell. After conceding a boundary to Salman Agha, Rana struck again as Agha was caught by Tanzid Hasan at short square leg, completing a superb five-wicket haul. Abdul Samad then came to the crease and safely played out the final delivery. At the end of 18 overs, Pakistan national cricket team were 69/5, with Hussain Talat 0 (6) and Abdul Samad 0 (1) at the crease.

Rizwan Departs!

The 15th over from Taskin Ahmed brought five runs for Pakistan national cricket team. Mohammad Rizwan struck a boundary through square leg but struggled to rotate the strike consistently, managing only a single off the final delivery. Pakistan moved to 60/3 after 15 overs. The 16th over saw Nahid Rana continue his destructive spell. After Rizwan cut a short ball for four, Rana responded with a superb delivery that found the edge, with Litton Das taking the catch behind the stumps. Hussain Talat then came to the crease and defended the final ball. At the end of 16 overs, Pakistan were 64/4, with Salman Agha 0 (2) and Hussain Talat 0 (1) at the crease.

Pakistan In Spot Of Bother! 

The 14th over saw Nahid Rana continue his impressive spell for Bangladesh national cricket team. After conceding a couple of singles and a wide, Rana struck again by dismissing Maaz Sadaqat, who top-edged a pull and was caught by Saif Hassan at fine leg. Salman Agha then came to the crease and safely negotiated the remaining deliveries. At the end of 14 overs, Pakistan national cricket team were 55/3, with Mohammad Rizwan 1 (9) and Salman Agha 0 (2) at the crease.

Shamyl Perishes! 

The 13th over was a tight one for Bangladesh as Taskin Ahmed conceded just a single. Maaz Sadaqat took that run off the first ball, while Mohammad Rizwan played out the remaining deliveries cautiously without adding to his score. At the end of 13 overs, Pakistan national cricket team were 52/2, with Sadaqat 17 (25) and Rizwan 0 (8) at the crease.

The 12th over proved eventful for Bangladesh national cricket team as Nahid Rana struck again. Maaz Sadaqat started the over with a single before Rana removed Shamyl Hussain, who top-edged a short ball and was safely caught by Litton Das behind the stumps. Mohammad Rizwan then came to the crease and survived the remainder of the over, with a leg-bye boundary adding to the total. After 12 overs, Pakistan national cricket team were 51/2, with Maaz Sadaqat 16 (24) and Mohammad Rizwan 0 (3) at the crease.

The 11th over from Mehidy Hasan Miraz yielded five runs for Pakistan national cricket team. Maaz Sadaqat began the over with a single before Shamyl Hussain added a couple of twos while trying to accelerate. Hussain also survived a scare on the final ball when Tanzid Hasan dropped a chance at long-on. After 11 overs, Pakistan moved to 46/1, with Sadaqat on 15 (23) and Hussain on 4 (5).

Not the best of debuts for the T20 World Cup 2026 top run-getter! 

The 10th over brought the first breakthrough for Bangladesh national cricket team as Nahid Rana struck in his opening over. Sahibzada Farhan began the over positively with a couple and a boundary through covers, but Rana had the last laugh on the final delivery. Farhan edged a short-of-length ball and Afif Hossain completed the catch. At the end of 10 overs, Pakistan national cricket team were 41/1, with Maaz Sadaqat 14 (22) at the crease.

The fifth over was a quiet one for Pakistan as Taskin Ahmed kept the pressure on with disciplined bowling. Sahibzada Farhan managed the only run of the over with a quick single to mid-off, while Maaz Sadaqat defended the final delivery safely. After five overs, Pakistan were 19/0, with Farhan on 13 (16) and Sadaqat on 6 (14).

The fourth over saw Mustafizur Rahman keep things tight early, but Maaz Sadaqat broke the pressure with a boundary through deep extra cover off the final delivery. Sahibzada Farhan had earlier taken a single to rotate the strike. After four overs, the visitors moved to 18/0, with Sadaqat on 6 (13) and Farhan on 12 (11).

The third over brought the first boundaries for Pakistan as Sahibzada Farhan countered Taskin Ahmed with two crisp fours—one drilled straight down the ground and another sliced through point. He later added a single to keep the scoreboard moving. At the end of three overs, the Men in Green advanced to 13/0, with Farhan on 11 (10) and Maaz Sadaqat on 2 (8).

The second over saw Mustafizur Rahman keep things tight for the Bangladesh side, conceding just three runs. Sahibzada Farhan picked up a single with a drive to mid-off, while Maaz Sadaqat collected a couple through third man. After two overs, Pakistan national cricket team moved to 4/0, with Farhan on 2 (5) and Sadaqat on 2 (7).

Pakistan had a cautious start in the first over of the 1st ODI, reaching 1/0 after 1 over against Bangladesh. Taskin Ahmed began the proceedings with a tight over, conceding just a single. Sahibzada Farhan managed to pick up the only run with a nudge towards square leg, while Maaz Sadaqat struggled early, getting beaten several times outside off stump. At the end of the over, Pakistan were 1/0, with Farhan on 1 (2) and Sadaqat yet to score 0 (4).

Shaheen Afridi at the toss: Actually, I would have loved to bat first on this track. Yeah, the reason is that for debutants, I don’t want to put pressure on them batting second. So let them bat freely and we support them. I think for me, like, I’m really excited to see them in the nets and they perform really well for Pakistan and also whenever they play in domestic, they perform well. So as a team, we’re excited to see them and they perform for Pakistan for a longer time. Yeah, of course, a winning start is always always important and as a captain, gives you more freedom. So I think, yeah, we just go with the flow and try to give our best. I feel 270, 280 will be a good target.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz at the toss: Yeah, love to bowl first. Yes, definitely. I think that night time situation is coming and yes, we think about like that in the chase, we will very well play it and I think so. We have a very good bowling attack also. If we get early wicket in first 10 overs, definitely it will be better. Yeah, definitely. It’s, I think, it’s the greatest start and hopefully everybody’s excited. And yes, yes, the qualify is the most important thing in the home series. Definitely, if we win, definitely it’s a good moment for us. Yes, we have three fast bowlers, two spinners and the six batters.

Bangladesh have won the toss and opted to field first! 

The Bangla Tigers have arrived at the stadium! Expecting crowd in huge numbers for this match! 

For the hosts, the focus is on preparing better batting surfaces ahead of the 2027 World Cup. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has stressed the need for true wickets instead of Mirpur’s usual turning tracks. Although Bangladesh national cricket team missed the 2026 T20 World Cup, they remain strong in ODIs at home. The return of Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana further strengthens their bowling attack against an inexperienced Pakistan side.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a bold selection move by leaving out former captain Babar Azam along with Naseem Shah and Saim Ayub. Led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan have opted for an experimental 15-player squad that includes six uncapped cricketers. Much attention will be on Sahibzada Farhan, the leading run-scorer of the 2026 T20 World Cup with 383 runs. With experienced wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan in the side, Pakistan hope their young lineup can bounce back after the team’s early exit from the tournament.
