Congress Flags Concerns Over Voter Deletions In Bihar

Congress MPs on Wednesday raised serious concerns about alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, filing separate notices in both Houses of Parliament.

In the Lok Sabha, MP Manickam Tagore submitted an Adjournment Motion Notice, urging an immediate discussion on the issue. He referred to reports suggesting that more than 12 per cent of voters had been removed from the rolls, highlighting mass deletions and questioning the transparency and impartiality of the revision process.

Calling the situation a matter of “grave public concern,” Tagore said the deletions impact the fundamental right to vote and weaken parliamentary oversight. He appealed for suspension of routine proceedings to allow an urgent debate.

Meanwhile, in the Rajya Sabha, MP Randeep Singh Surjewala submitted a Suspension of Business Notice under Rule 267, seeking a discussion on the issue and its implications for the integrity of the electoral process.
