Parliament Monsoon Session Day 21 LIVE Updates: Online Gaming Bill Passed In Rajya Sabha, Monsoon Session Concludes

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, says, “…There should be opposition in a democracy. Protesting or disagreeing is a democratic way to express your views, but obstructing and stopping the government from working in Parliament is undemocratic… By making statements against the country and the Supreme Court, abusing the Election Commission of India, you are weakening the Constitution…”

On the conclusion of the Monsoon session of the Parliament, Congress MP Mallu Ravi says, “I have never seen parliament being run like this. The parliament looks like a fish market, a bus stand, or a railway station where everybody talks to themselves. It is not because of the opposition; it is because of the failure of the government and the speaker of the official party. They could not keep the house in order because they were not in a position to answer the questions of the INDIA bloc people… The BJP government will face a heavy penalty from the people because they will not accept it and will show their anger through voting…”

The Monsoon Session, 2025 of Parliament which commenced on Monday, the 21st of July, 2025 has been adjourned sine die on Thursday, the 21st of August, 2025.During the Session, 14 Bills were introduced in Lok Sabha. 12 Bills were passed by Lok Sabha and 15 Bills were passed by Rajya Sabha and a total of 15 Bills were passed by both the Houses of Parliament: Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju says, “…The Monsoon Session of Parliament was extremely fruitful for the country and the government…But many new MPs were not allowed to speak in Parliament. The opposition itself is responsible for this, they disrupted the House a lot and did not participate in the scheduled time for discussion…The opposition did not allow us to congratulate Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla as he became the first person to visit the International Space Station (ISS)…This is very sad…”

Delhi: On the conclusion of the Monsoon session of the Parliament, Union MoS for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, says, “The opposition had no issue, and their motive was to prevent the House from functioning. The government wanted to initiate the debate and also wanted to be a part of it. But these people have developed a mentality that they should kill time by creating chaos. These people did not allow the House to function, resulting in the country suffering a lot.”

Delhi: On the conclusion of the Monsoon session of the Parliament, BJP MP Deepak Prakash says, “It is unfortunate that the opposition is completely against democracy and has worked to strip this temple of democracy of its dignity. The people across the country are observing this kind of dirty politics—how Congress, TMC, and the entire opposition have attacked the core of democracy—and we will communicate these issues to the common people. These people aim to halt India’s progress…”

Congress MP Rajeev Shukla says, “…The opposition only wanted to have a discussion on a single issue and Parliament is the only place to have discussions. They (the Central government) did not allow a discussion. All the bills were passed in a hurry. The opposition is not allowed to speak in the Parliament…”

On the promotion of Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar says, “This is a very good act and this bill prevents, as we have seen many instances of youths losing all their savings in online games, committing suicide due to loss of money… This bill will prove very useful in leading the youths in the right direction… The public was expecting such a bill to be passed…”

On RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s statement on the bill for the removal of the PM, CMs, and ministers held on serious criminal charges, Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor says, “Perhaps Tejashwi Yadav understands politics better. I feel that if someone who holds a post is convicted and jailed, they should step down. When Lalu Yadav went to jail, he too stepped down as the CM. Why? He could have worked from jail itself. You cannot change your stand just like that with time, without any reason. I think there is nothing wrong with the provisions of the Bill per se, people are questining the intent behind it…The Bill has been sent to Select Committee, safeguards that are necessary will be put in place.”

On the conclusion of the Monsoon session of the Parliament, BJP MP Kiran Chaudhary says, “The entire Monsoon Session was a washout because the Opposition and the Congress did not let it run. They have no topics. We had so many bills to pass, it would have been better if they had been passed after a discussion…”

Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s proposed Bill for removal of PM, CMs, and ministers facing serious criminal charges, calling it a “black law” aimed at suppressing the Opposition and diverting the nation’s attention.

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: On Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi opposing the bill for removal of the PM, CMs, ministers held on serious criminal charges, BJP spokesperson C.R. Kesavan says, “This bill…has unmasked the unprincipled U-turn and the farcical flip-flop politics of Rahul Gandhi..The country and the people are startled by the Congress and the INDI bloc’s vehement opposition to this bill. In 2013, Rahul Gandhi publicly tore a UPA ordinance because he felt that it was favouring corrupt practices…Now, in such hypocrisy, Rahul Gandhi is opposing this bill..Only naked lust for power has been the aim for the Congress…Congress party’s behaviour is deplorable and indefensible..The Congress and the INDI bloc are supporting a construct wherein they favour and support a person sitting in jail to be able to govern a state or a country, which shows the kind of depraved politics riddled with moral decay the Congress follows.”

INDIA alliance Vice-Presidential nominee, former Supreme Court Judge B Sudershan Reddy files his nomination in the presence of Congress president-Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi. NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar, SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and several other leaders of the alliance also present at the nomination.

Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 pm after RS Chair Harivansh rejected the notices submitted by Opposition MPs, sparking a protest.

Lok Sabha  adjourned till 12 pm amid disturbance in the House after Opposition MPs raised protests.

On the Bill for removal of the PM, CMs, and ministers held on serious criminal charges, BJP MP Damodar Agarwal says, “Democracy can’t allow corruption to continue. BJP-NDA Government doesn’t want to allow this. It wants to implement decorum, sanctity and rule of law. So, this good Bill has been brought. Opposing this shows that they are rattled…”

Ahead of filing nomination, INDIA alliance Vice-Presidential nominee, former Supreme Court Judge B Sudershan Reddy says, “…I will definitely speak with you after filing nomination…Program is simple, I am going to the Returning Officer to submit my nomination paper…”

On the Bill for removal of the PM, CMs, and ministers held on serious criminal charges, RSP MP NK Premachandran says, “Yesterday, we very clearly opposed the introduction of Bill, stating that this is a draconian legislation. This infringes on the federal principles of the Constitution, specifically the collective responsibility of the Council of Ministers to the Parliament. This is with an ulterior motive to destabilise the Governments of various states in which BJP is not in power. So, instead of Article 356, this can be used as a weapon to remove the State Govts which are not governed by the BJP and its friends…This is anti-democratic. It is against the principles of federalism…”

Congress MP Manickam Tagore has given an Adjournment Motion Notice in the Lok Sabha seeking a discussion on the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

On the final day of the Monsoon Session, Parliament will hold a special discussion to honour Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, India’s first astronaut, who recently returned after a successful mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

The discussion will highlight India’s growing achievements in space exploration and Shukla’s milestone contribution to the country’s space programme.
