Parliament Monsoon Session Day-6 LIVE: 16 Hours Of Discussion Begins On Operation Sindoor In Lok Sabha, Opposition Raises Questions

Speaking on Operation Sindoor in the House, EAM Dr S Jaishankar says that it was important to send a clear, strong and resolute message after the Pahalgam attack. Our red lines had been crossed. and we had to make it very apparent that there would be serious consequences as a result.

The first step, which was taken, was that a meeting of the Cabinet Committee of Security took place on 23rd April.

That meeting decided that-

1. The Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 will be held in abeyance with immediate effect until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism.

2. The Integrated Check Post Attari would be closed with immediate effect.

3. Pakistani nationals who are travelling under SARC visa exemption scheme will no longer be allowed to do that.

4. The Defence, Naval and Air advisors of the Pakistani High Commission would be declared Persona non grata

5. The overall strength of the High Commission would be brought down to 30 from the number of 55.

EAM also said, “It was very clear that, after the first set of steps approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security, India’s response to the Pahalgam attack would not stop there. Our task from a diplomatic perspective, from a foreign policy approach, was to shape the global understanding of the Pahalgam attack.”

“What we tried to do was to bring out to the international community Pakistan’s long-standing use of cross-border terrorism. We highlighted the history of terrorism in Pakistan and how this particular attack was meant to target the economy of Jammu and Kashmir and to sow communal discord among the people of India, “He added. As the session continues, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan mentions how PM Modi said that Pakistan will get a reply beyond their imagination. 

As the Lok Sabha commenced its discussion on Operation Sindoor, Samajwadi Party MP Ramashankar Rajbhar raised a series of pointed questions. He questioned why U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly; 26 times, claimed to have played a role in brokering a ceasefire during the India-Pakistan conflict.

Rajbhar also sought clarity on the government’s assertion that 100 terrorists were eliminated during Operation Sindoor. He specifically inquired whether the four individuals involved in the recent Pahalgam terror attack were among those killed.

Further, he questioned Trump’s controversial claim that five Indian fighter jets had been shot down, demanding that the government address these statements. Rajbhar criticized the government for failing to provide clear answers and expressed concern about the current state of India-U.S. relations.

In continuation, Gautam Gogoi asks about how many of our fighter jets were actually downed, he wants to know if the people have also been lied to. 

During the session, Congress MP Gautam Gogoi questions why the ceasefire between India and Pakistan happened. Why was it so sudden? What exactly does it mean?

Congress MP Gautam Gogoi, mentions to the house about the circumstances that took place during the Pahalgam attack, He asks how the terrorists were even there and how they were able to go forward with the attack. 

Rajnath Singh further mentions that a fight should be equal, he says that Indian forces are lions and Pakistan forces are frogs and a fight like that is not fair

Rajnath Singh says that in the end at least one person as to do something. He says that Lord Krishna has taught us that at the end someone has to do something. 

Rajnath Singh says that even with numerous attempts to establish peace with Pakistan, Terror does not go hand in hand with just talking. 

Rajnath Singh mentions how India has tried numerous times to create a civil relationship with Pakistan, with no real progress. He further says, ” agar hum shanti ke liye haath badhana jante hain, toh ashanti phelane wale haathon ko ukhadna bhi jante hain” 

“If we know how to extend a hand for peace, we also know how to uproot the hands that spread unrest.”

Rajnath Singh continues with “hum dosti ki rah par the toh woh (Pakistan) shariyantra ki raah par the.”

“jab Bharat ki jeet samne dikhayi de rhi thi, tab Pakistan ne parman yudh ki dhamki de dali”

During the discussion, Rajnath Singh mentions that the attack was merely an act of self defence and a final answer to the terror nurseries that Pakistan has been embedding for the past many years.

Rajnath Singh mentions that although Operation Sindoor is paused for the time being, if Pakistan is seen to present any unprovoked misdemeanour, they will have no problem in resuming the Operation. 

During the discussion, Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh mentions how Op Sindoor was paused in between. It has still not ended, just on a pause. 

During the debate, Rajnath Singh mentions a tri-service coordination that was used during the Operation Sindoor.

Discussion on Operation Sindoor begins in Lok Sabha as session is resumed at 2 PM. 

As Lok Sabha session resumed at 1, with opposition sloganeering and creating ruckus in the house, Lok Sabha speaker – Om Birla adjourns the parliament till 2 PM. 

The opposition demands discussion on SIR Bihar, whereas the house was scheduled to discuss Operation Sindoor. The topic clash has ended up with no serious discussion in the house being the 6th day of Parliament’s Monsoon session 2025. 

As scheduled, the house will resume at 2 PM today and is expected to start the discussions on Operation Sindoor.

Within just 8 minutes of the session resuming from its already adjourned state, the Lok Sabha session was adjourned once again till 1 PM by Lok Sabha speaker – Om Birla. 

Monsoon Session, Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 PM once again just as the session resumed.

Upon the Parliamentarians creating ruckus, Lok Sabha speaker – Om Birla adjourned the Parliament till 12 PM. 

The Parliament was scheduled to hold a 16 hour fierce discussion on Operation Sindoor, but just 14 minutes as the session began, the Parliament was adjourned. Lok Sabha speaker – Om Birla turned heads when Parliamentarians kept creating unnecessary interruptions. 

As the Lok Sabha begings on day 6 of the Monsoon session, massive ruckus breaks over OP Sindoor. 

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson and MP Sonia Gandhi joined the Opposition’s protest against the Bihar State Intelligence Report (SIR) at Parliament House on Monday. Several leaders from the INDIA bloc participated in the demonstration, raising concerns over alleged surveillance and misuse of intelligence inputs.

The protest took place during the ongoing Monsoon Session, as Opposition parties demanded a response from the government regarding the report and its implications on political rights and privacy.
