Punjab FC vs FC Goa Highlights ISL: Effiong Nsungusi And Dejan Drazic Score As The High-Stakes Clash End In A 1-1 Draw

There is nothing to separate the two teams as the clash between Punjab FC and FC Goa ends in a draw at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

FC Goa seems to have some urgency when it comes to attacking in the dying minutes of the game. The Madgaon-based club would not want to settle for a draw after playing for almost 40 minutes with an extra player. 

Seven minutes have been added on after the stipulated 90 minutes. The scores are still level as both teams search for the winning goal. 

We are into the final few minutes of the game as FC Goa make their way into the defence of the Shers. They are desperately searching for the second goal to take three points home with them. 

FC Goa’s midfielder, Sahil Tavora, was shown the yellow card in the 86th minute of the clash.

Punjab FC have certainly upped their game in their defensive half. Knowing that their talismanic goal scorer is off the field, the Shers seem to have accepted that a draw is the best result they can take. 

FC Goa is searching for the winning goal as they aim to take advantage of Punjab FC, who are down to 10 men. Meanwhile, the hosts are trying their best to slow things down, keeping the score level before the final whistle is blown. 

The hosts have certainly been pushed to the back foot since Effiong Nsungusi received a red card. The Shers had a chance to take the lead again, but Manglenthang Kipgen missed a fairly straightforward chance in front of the goal. The drought of goals for Punjab FC players continued as Effiong Nsungusi still stands as the lone goal-scorer for them. 

Dejan Drazic came close to scoring his second goal. The Serbian was presented with a relatively easier header opportunity inside the penalty box. However, he could not convert the chance into a goal as FC Goa failed to take the lead. 

Another corner for FC Goa in the 59th minute. The FC Goa player managed to connect the header but the ball went above the goal post. 

Dejan Drazic scored his fourth goal of the season as well. The Shers, having been reduced to 10 men, conceded the equalizing goal to keep FC Goa’s undefeated streak safe. 

Effiong Nsungusi will feel hard done by, as the striker was shown the red card early in the first half. He was challenged by Pol Moreno and made a reactionary headbutt. The referee, John Crystal, showed the red card to the striker as the Shers find themselves reduced to 10 men. 

Punjab FC would know that they were too close to giving away this lead in the dying minutes of the first half.

Pol Moreno’s free kick in the added time was deflected from the wall and resulted in yet another corner. The corner almost resulted in a goal as Muhammad Uvais, who was defending, hit the crossbar of his own goal.

FC Goa was awarded a late corner in the added injury time. The Gaurs played it short and were then awarded a free kick. The Shers managed to clear the ball.

Ayush Chhetri got his name written in John Crystal’s books. The midfielder from FC Goa was shown the yellow card in the 40th minute of the clash. 

Effiong Nsungusi is holding on to his right hamstring as he went down in the 40th minute. As the 27-year-old was holding on to his leg, the Punjab FC bench looked quite tense. He is okay to carry on, and the Shers will hope the injury is not serious. 

Effiong Nsungusi, since scoring the first goal of the clash, has been close to scoring his second goal. The Nigerian striker is absolutely dominating this clash as Punjab FC looks to break their FC Goa curse. 

FC Goa’s streak of three clean sheets has been broken by a left-footed curler from Effiong Nsungusi. Their undefeated record against Punjab FC is now at stake as the Shers take a crucial lead. 

Effiong Nsungusi scored his fourth goal of the campaign. The Nigerian has managed to score every goal for the Punjab FC in the season so far. 

Finally, FC Goa seems to have turned up in their clash. The Gaurs are now taking charge against the hosts and are constantly putting the ball in the attacking third. 

Punjab FC, from their first corner of the match, managed to head it towards the goal. However, it went straight into the hands of the goalkeeper, Hrithik Tiwari. The attacks from Punjab FC so far in the clash have been quite energetic. 

FC Goa was awarded the first corner of the clash. The kick was aimed at the far post, where, surprisingly, none of the players from FC Goa were placed. Punjab FC’s Bijoy Varghese conceded the corner. 

The players from Punjab FC have certainly turned up as they attempt to record their first win against FC Goa. While they are yet to take a shot to challenge the goalkeeper, they have created a couple of attacking opportunities. 

An early free kick in the opposing half for Punjab FC. However, it was a poor kick from the number 10, Dani Ramirez, as he failed to clear the wall. 

The action has kicked off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi as the two teams battle out in the high-stakes encounter. 

The two teams observed a minute of silence before the kickoff following the passing of former AIFF General Secretary, Kushal Das during the week. 

Striker Ishan Pandita for FC Gooa is raring to make a mark on the clash as he returns for the visitors. 

Only 30 minutes are left for the kick-off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Both teams have announced their starting XIs as they approach a crucial game.

FC Goa holds a massive lead when it comes to the head-to-head record between the two teams. The Madgaon-based club has won four of the five games against the Shers.
