Vaiko expressed concerns about rising incidents of murder, robbery, and rape in the country, as well as the deteriorating state of law and order.
Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of seeking to establish “Sanatana” in India through the creation of caste divisions. Speaking to the media, Vaiko emphasized the importance of an upcoming conference in Madurai, which he believed would invigorate the MDMK.
Vaiko expressed concerns about rising incidents of murder, robbery, and rape in the country, as well as the deteriorating state of law and order. He highlighted the efforts made to protect the Dravidian movement and noted that Tamil Nadu currently serves as a model for Dravidian-style governance, which has garnered attention nationwide.
Vaiko added that the BJP’s intentions to establish “Sanatana” in India by fomenting caste divisions would not come to fruition. He also hinted at revealing his future plans during the Madurai conference.
It’s noteworthy that the MDMK has extended its support to opposition parties working to forge a united front against the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Vaiko had participated in a two-day joint opposition meeting on July 17, where he expressed his hope that the Modi government would face defeat in the upcoming elections.
In the past, the MDMK was an ally of the BJP during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The opposition parties, including the Congress, have formed the ‘INDIA’ alliance (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) to challenge the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP.
The series of joint opposition meetings began with a gathering in Patna on June 23, followed by another meeting in Bengaluru on July 17-18. The most recent meeting took place on August 31-September 1 in Mumbai.
