In a new LV advertisement that was uploaded or published on Saturday, both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are featured. It shows the two of them utilising the brand’s iconic squares as spots for their chess pieces while playing on top of a Louis Vuitton luggage.
As stated by the firm, the collaboration was Victory is a State of Mind, they say. “The Maison commemorates two of the most gifted football players today,” they continue, “in addition to a long legacy of creating trunks for the world’s most treasured athletic prizes.”
Famous photographer Annie Leibovitz, who has worked on innumerable spreads like this, took the photo. The 2022 World Cup, with its opening match slated for Sunday, is just one day away, making the Messi and Ronaldo comparison perhaps more important than ever.
Although none of the star player’s sides, Argentina or Portugal, have a match until Tuesday and Thursday of the next week, respectively, it may be their final World Cup appearances. After this, LM has already declared his retirement, and Ronaldo hinted that he would do the same.
That being said, this collaboration is legendary. It’s unclear if this was a one-time picture session or a preview of a new product line they are both contracted to, but either way, it’s great.
