The usage of high-grade steel in crucial strategic applications is growing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday, citing the INS Vikrant as an example of the skills the nation has garnered.
During his speech at the ‘Bhoomi pujan’ of the flagship ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India plant’s expansion project on Friday in Gujarat’s Surat region, the Prime Minister almost spoke the entire time. The Prime Minister provided a list of initiatives to support the Indian steel sector. He said that the PLI plan had opened up fresh prospects for its expansion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of the public-private partnership (PPP) model and Atmanirbhar Bharat for growth “The nation has now set a goal of doubling the capacity of crude steel production in order to promote such a capability. At the moment, 154 MT of basic steel is produced.”
“Our aim is to increase India’s crude steel production. The government intends to produce 300 million tonnes of crude steel over the next few years. Through the public-private partnership (PPP) model, the government is fostering circular methods of production.”
The government is actively involved in building the required policy framework for the growth of this sector, according to the prime minister, who noted that India is quickly advancing toward being the greatest manufacturing hub in the world.
“The steel sector in India has grown to be the second-largest producer of steel in the world over the past eight years as a result of everyone’s efforts. The potential for growth in this sector is enormous “he added.
