A six-year-old kid was allegedly slain by a police officer for continuously asking for money to buy food during the Rath Yatra in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia district. However, the accused has been arrested.

Ravi Sharma, a police constable, allegedly strangled the youngster in Datia, put his body in the boot of his car, and drove back to Gwalior before discarding his body at an abandoned location.

According to Datia Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathore, “The boy approached Ravi Sharma (Police Constable) for money to buy food several times, but the cop refused and drove the boy away. However, the youngster returned and demanded money. In a fit of fury, the cop strangled the minor to death.”

The accused informed the police that he was depressed and became irritated when the youngster kept demanding money from him.

Following the arrest of the accused, Rathor stated “We discovered CCTV evidence of Ravi Sharma’s automobile driving by the crime scene during the investigation. Sharma said he was assigned to duty in Datia during the Rath Yatra. In his automobile, he returned to Gwalior with two other police constables.”

Rathore has written to the state police headquarters, requesting that the accused constable be immediately terminated from service.
