Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting France on the 13th and 14th of July. He will attend the bastille day parade as chief guest on 14th July. The contingent of Indian armed forces will also participate in the parade. Both countries are celebrating 25 years of strategic partnership this year. The French envoy to India, Emmanuel Lenain termed this visit “maximum impact and maximum outcomes” for both the countries. He also hailed the “Make in India initiative” which is part of a wider set of nation-building initiatives. This two-day visit by PM Modi is expected to focus on various areas for instance, strategic partnership, cultural exchanges, scientific advancement, and defense and economic cooperation.

According to various media reports defense cooperation and major defense deals will be the major agenda for this visit. Defense deals, trade cooperation, and talks for the naval version of Dassault Aviation’s Rafael fighter jets are expected to be discussed in this upcoming visit. various sources have reported that India is very close to receiving the Rafael-M fighter jets which can operate from the deck of INS Vikrant.

According to various media sources, a delegation of top CEOs from India Inc is expected to be in France during PM Modi’s official visit. The delegation of CEOs would participate in the meeting of India France Business Forum which is also expected to take place. The focus of this meeting is likely to expand business and economic cooperation between both countries. They will also focus on the subjects like “Make in India” and partnerships in aviation and space.

Bilateral trade between both countries has seen its rise over the last decade. India’s export to France grew approximately 14.6% throughout the year to $7.6 billion. France has emerged as the major source of foreign direct investment for India with an FDI equity inflow of $10.54 billion from April 2000 to March 2023.
Apart from that, President Macron will host PM Narendra Modi for a ceremonial dinner at Cour Marley courtyard at the famous Louvre Museum which is also expected to be attended by 250 dignitaries. So overall this visit is going to be very crucial for both India and France in many aspects as it can change the course geopolitical landscape and bilateral relations as well.
