Cops lathicharge teachers in Srinagar, over a dozen injured

The move comes after hundreds of protesters were injured and many blinded last year due to the use of pellet guns.
Srinagar: Around 500 teachers along with members of the Employees’ Joint Action Committee were lathicharged by policemen in the Jammu and Kashmir’s capital. They had assembled in the Residency Road area and were shouting slogans against the director of school education whom they blamed for anti-teacher policies.
Police intervened when the protesters started a march from the Press Enclave towards the office of the director school education, Jammu and Kashmir. More than half a dozen teachers were injured in the police action and over a dozen were arrested by the police.
