New Delhi: If the new legislation comes through the Mumbai bar dancers will soon have a fixed salary and an identity card. The bar dancers are currently earning their living through commissions and tips.
The new legislation was proposed by the government of Maharashtra. The legislation yet to be presented in the state assembly will ensure other facilities for the bar dancers like pickups and home drops.
Mostly the dance bars are located on the outskirts of Mumbai therefore travelling facilities should be provided to these workers to create a secure work environment for them.
The state government is unwilling to give facilities to the bar dancer owners and is adamant on the stand that it will take this to the Supreme Court.
On the other hand as the bar dancers has always been a controversial issue in the state, the state government has decided to draft a bill to present it in the assembly on March 9.
