Kolkata: Election model code of conduct was violated by Trinamool Congress in Pandabeahwar block of Durgapur as they took out a bike rally in the election campaign on Sunday. Hundred of bikes participated in the election campaign of Jitendra Tiwary, TMC candidate from Pandabeshwar assembly who is also the Mayor of Asansol municipal corporation.
It was busy Sunday for all the political parties here in West Bengal and allparty organised rally, procession in different area of the constituency. TMC also organised a workers meet here in Kulti of Asansol in favour of TMC candidate Ujjal Chatterjee where large number of TMC supporters participatedin it. Minister of the state Molay Ghatak also participated in the rallywhere he counted the development work done by the TMC goverment in last five years.
Trinamool did everything in power on Wednesday to reduce BJP vote share.Dates have also been sought for BJP president Amit Shah and other central leaders to campaign for the elections. “At least 30-40 BJP leaders,including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will also campaign for the party,” the state BJP said.
On Wednesday, BJP candidate Babul Supriyo as he approached polling booths,voters milled around the singer-turned-BJP to get his autographs. Trinamool polling agent claimed that Babul was attempting to influence voters and the singer was forced to leave. Babul responded saying, “I had no intention of influencing voters. People simply came forward and asked for autographs.This is unfortunate. You can’t snatch away a candidate’s rights in this manner,”.
The BJP will primarily target the TMC over violence in Kaliachak in Malda where a large mob allegedly set afire several vehicles and attacked a police station in January.
