New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ganesh Joshi was arrested on Friday for allegedly attacking ‘Shaktiman’- a police horse during a protest in Dehradun.  The horse’s leg was amputated on Thursday to stop gangrene spreading and is now on a prosthetic leg.

“The doctors were of the view that the horse might lose its life by Friday morning due to the spread of gangrene, so we decided to amputate his leg urgently,” BS Sidhu, Uttarakhand director general of police (DGP) said.

“The doctors diagnosed that the blood supply to the injured portion (in his leg) had stopped,” he added.

BJP MP Maneka Gandhi also spoke with the DGP and asked to take stern action against the accused.

Pramod Bora was arrested from Mukhani area of Haldwani on Thursday in Nainital for pulling up the reins of the police horse and causing it to fall during the protest on a requisition by Dehradun police.

Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi faces three police cases for purportedly breaking the horse’s leg. However, the lawmaker’s party has come up with a video to prove their point saying that the horse tripped and fell on its own, fracturing its leg.

People have stood by Shaktiman and have demanded that action be taken against the brutal BJP MLA.

Joshi has been sent to 14 day judicial custody.

Even,Virat Kohli, the famous Indian Batsman was shocked to see this brutal behaviour of the MLA and tweeted for the voiceless animal.
