Mumbai: Maharashtra Advocate General Shreehari Aney on Tuesday submitted his resignation to the state governor after receiving flak over his statement on separate Marathwada state.
On Monday, Aney had raised the issue in the legislative assembly, demanding separate statehood for Marathwada.
There was a ruckus in the assembly over Aney’s statement. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena had opposed his statement, with Shiv Sena demanding AG’s resignation. After massive uproar over the issue, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis had asked Aney to submit his resignation, following which he resigned.
