Chennai: Aiming to secure the mandate for a successive second term, Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary J Jayalalithaa is all set to kick start her campaign for the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa will hit the campaign trail today by addressing a mega rally in her constituency of RK Nagar. Amma lined up the 15 day road show of her campaign. More than two lakh people are expected to attend the rally today.
J Jayalalitha will be introducing party candidates of 21 constituencies including 16 in the city during the rally. AIADMK functionaries in Chennai, Tirunelveli and Kanchipuram are making elaborate arrangement for the first day of the campaign.
J Jayalaitha will be addressing the rally today at 6pm.
DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Friday sprang a surprise by launching an unscheduled door-to-door election campaign at Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s R.K. Nagar Assembly constituency in North Chennai.
AIADMK will be contesting all the 234 seats. J Jayalalithaa allotted seven of Tamil Nadu’s 234 seats to allies on last Monday and announced an initial list of 227 candidates for her party.
AIADMK spokesperson, CR Saraswati spoke to NewsX and said, “I am also a candidate today. I will also be contesting. We all are eagerly waiting for Amma’s rally today and she is definitely giving a wonderful speech today. We are happy for the people and expect their vote for Amma.”
