New Delhi: A probe has been ordered into former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Chhagan Bhujbal’s admission to St George’s Hospital on Monday.
Bhujbal had complained of a toothache and was granted permission by prison authorities to visit the Government Dental College and Hospital.
Bhujbal, who had been arrested in a money laundering case, landed up in St George’s Hospital, which is adjacent to the dental college. This is a question that the inquiring authority will seek to answer.
Questions remain as to why was Bhujbal, who suddenly developed chest pain after leaving the jail, was admitted to St George’s Hospital which does not have a cardiology department? Also, if Bhujbal left the jail to get treatment for toothache, why did he not visit the dental hospital at all?
Authorities are also probing the role of Arthur Road jail’s medical officer Rahul Ghule and some senior doctors at St George’s Hospital.
Moreover, St George Hospital doctors and the Government Dental College and Hospital on Tuesday gave contradicting accounts of what transpired on Monday.
