The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Saturday will release the official notification for the 2016 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) exams.

To check the notification you can visit the official website before applying for the exam. Last date to apply for the exam with the required documents is May 20 and the preliminary exam will be held on August 7.

The exam will be carried out in three different stages: Preliminary, main and a personality test via an interview.

If you are a general candidate then you will get only six attempts to clear the exam and must complete it before you turn 32. But, if you fall under OBC category candidate, then the age limit is 35 years and the number of attempts is nine. Candidates’ belonging to Schedule Cast (SC) and Schedule Tribe (ST), the age limit is 37 years, while the number of attempts is unlimited.

To appear in IAS exam:

All the candidates, who are citizens of India, are qualified to apply for the exam. Though, candidates belonging to Nepal, Bhutan or Tibetan refugees and immigrants with Indian origin are also eligible to apply if they produce a certificate of eligibility that has been issued by the Government of India.

To appear in IFS exam:

All the candidates who are interested in applying must possess a Bachelor’s degree with one compulsory subject, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science/ Botany/ Chemistry/Geology/ Mathematics/Physics/ Statistics or Zoology OR a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/ Forestry/Engineering from a recognised institute/ university.
