New Delhi: After the calamitous Tawang landslide claimed 16 lives, the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday sent a high level Central team to the landslide affected areas of Tawang district to assess the extent of damage and report on relief and compensation package.
The two-member Central team which will consist of Senior Advisor in the Niti Aayog and a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs will perform on-the-spot assessment of damage in the landslide affected areas of the Tawang region. After holding discussions with the State and District officials, PM Narendra Modi has directed the team to make an analysis of the nature of relief and compensation package.
The Tawang District was affected by a major landslide on 22nd April, 2016. The Prime Minister had earlier announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh to the kins of the deceased persons and Rs 50,000 to the injured ones.
