New Delhi: Congress leader Naveen Jindal, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and 13 other accomplices have been charged with corruption over irregularities in the allocation of Amarkonda Murgadangal block in Jharkhand to Jindal Group of companies.
The case pertains to the Amarkonda Murgadangal coal block allocated in the year 2008. In its order, special judge Bharat Parashar held that an attempt was made by all the accused to make the block available for the two Jindal firms(Jindal Steel and power limited & Gagan Sponge Iron Pvt Ltd.). Similar allegations were made by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the case.
The Supreme Court had in the month of September 2014 cancelled allocations of more than 200 coal blocks made between 1993-2010 owing to discrepancies in the allocation process.
