Kolkata: West Bengal Police on Thursday registered an FIR against 2 TMC leaders for poll code violation.
An FIR was filed against Dinahata candidate Udyan Guha on the charge of violating secrecy of vote by entering a polling booth and obstructing police officials form discharging their duties.
Rabindra Nath Gosh another TMC candidate from Natabari, Coochbehar was charged for violating the secrecy of vote by entering a voting compartment and threatening the presiding officer.
Earlier on Thursday, TMC district secretary, Subir Sarkar had been reportedly shot at in Baharampur, West Bengal. He was admitted to a hospital with serious injuries. Party members alleged CPI(M) members were behind the attack.
Though most of the voting in the last phase of polling on Thursday was peaceful, there were sporadic incidents of violence.
As many as 58.04 lakh voters will decide the fate of 170 candidates. Of the total voters, 27.8 lakh are women while voters of the third gender number 68.
