New Delhi: Head of Sant Nirankari Mission, Baba Hardev Singh, better known as Nirankari Baba, has died in a car accident. As per reports the accident took place in Montreal, Canada. He was aged 62.
Nirankari Baba an Indian spiritual guru and the leader of Sant Nirankari Mission, succeeded his father in 1980, after he was assassinated.
Baba Hardev Singh was born to Gurbachan Singh and Kulwant Kaur on February 23, 1954 in Delhi. After his early schooling at Rosary Public School, Sant Nirankari Colony, Delhi, in 1963 he joined Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, a boarding school. 
In 1971, he joined the Nirankari Sewa Dal as its primary member.
Sant Nirankari Mission was established in 1929, by Baba Buta Singh who previously belonged to the Nirankari sect. He was succeed by Baba Avtar Singh. The mission flourished after it shifted base to Delhi from West Punjab, after partition of India in 1947. By 2009, the organization had over 100 branches in 27 countries.
