Vishakhapatnam: On Thursday, the Meteorological Department (MD) said that the deep depression over the south-west of Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify in the next 24 hours as the cyclonic storm ‘Roanu’ moved bearer to Gopalpur.
The storm is currently about 125 kms of south-southeast of Machilipatnam, 350kms of southwest of Visakhapatnam and 225 kms of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
In the wake cyclone Roanu, four NDRF teams comprising 130 rescuers equipped with life saving equipments have been deployed in Andhra Pradesh, two teams are pre-positioned in Rajamundri, East Godavari and remaining two are in Machhilipattnam and Krishna District.
A team of NDRF was sent to Karimganj, Cachar Assam for rescue and relief for flood and land slide operation. NDRF is also keeping a close watch over the development of cyclone and have also put all the other team on the ‘alert’ mode.
