New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday tweeted in response to the death of a 29-year-old Congolese national in south Delhi’s Kishangarh area. She said that immediate action will be taken against the culprits. 
“I have already asked the Lt Governor of Delhi, Shri Najeeb Jung, to take steps and ensure that this case is tried by a Fast Track Court”, Sushma tweeted.
The External Affairs Minister said that it is an unfortunate and painful incident involving local goons. A sensitization program will be conducted to reiterate that such incidents against foreign nationals embarrass the country and meetings will be held with African students in metro cities to assure them of their safety and security, she further added.
Masonda Ketada Olivier, a French language teacher was beaten to death by three intoxicated men after a verbal spat over hiring of an auto-rickshaw. The incident happened on Friday at around 11 pm near Kishangarh village of Vasant Kunj area.
The Congolese national had been living in Delhi for the past five years.
