New Delhi: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday gave a clean chit to the BJP leader and former Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse in connection with the charge that he received calls from the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
The Maharashtra ATS in its investigation said that they did not find any significant link between Dawood and the BJP minister.
“We have received all the call data records… so far nothing significant has come out of the investigations into these call data records,” an official said.
Few weeks ago, it had emerged that Eknath Khadse was on the most dialled list of Dawood Ibrahim’s international call list.
The BJP minister, however, refuted all the allegations against him. He also said that his telephone number has not been in use for a year.
The cellular company IDEA has given in writing that no international call has been made or received from the number in question, Khadse added.
Maharashtra Minister went on to say that these allegations are being made to damage his reputation. “This is an attempt to malign my image; I am ready to face CBI probe to prove my innocence,” he said.
