New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s Alka Lamba was suspended from the position of party spokesperson for two months on Tuesday after she commented on the resignation of former transport minister Gopal Rai. Lamba had told reporters that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal wanted Rai to step down.
According to a report published in The Indian Express, “Lamba had told the media that Rai was releived of the portfolio to make a way for a fair probe into the Premium Bus Service scheme.”
She had made the comments outside the Anti-Corruption Branch’s (ACB’s) office, where she had gone to extend support to Rai. He had gone to the agency in connection with the probe into the scheme.
But the Aam Aadmi Party has maintained that Rai stepped down due to health grounds.
Last month, Rai had announced a scheme that would encourage the car users to use public transport. However, the Lt. Najeeb Jung had refused to give a green signal to the scheme.
