New Delhi: Minister of Urban Development of India Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday told reporters that the Monsoon session of the Parliament is set to begin from 18th July.
The upcoming Monsoon session of the Parliament is especially significant as the contentious Goods and Services Tax bill (GST) might be passed with full consensus. The NDA government has gained the approval of major parties that had initially raised objection with the bill.
“We are in the favour of passing GST in the Monsoon session. Will speak to all parties even if it requires personal talks,” said Naidu, who exclaimed that a lot of bills were pending in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. “Some are in Standing Committee,” he said.
Naidu said that three ordinances are also pending, which will be brought up in the session.
If the GST bill is passed this Monsoon, a year-long deadlock will be broken which accounted for heavy financial losses for the government.
