New Delhi: In curfew-imposed Kashmir post the encounter of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were gravely injured in two different protests in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

After being hit on the head by a stone allegedly thrown by one of the protesters, the injured CRPF personnel was immediately run to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar. The officer was accompanying a group in carrying a constable who had suffered from heart attack when a mob ambushed them and started pelting them with stones.

After the incident, authorities immediately called for reinforcements to quell the raging protests in the area.

Another officer was admitted into the hospital in critical condition when a splinter from a grenade thrown from the crowd at Nowhatta area of downtown Srinagar lodged itself in the head of the CRPF personnel.

Kashmir is witnessing violent protests that have been compounded by the death of more than 40 civilians in the state. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has called for restraint.
