New Delhi: Tragedy occurred at the Mumbai-Pune expressway on Tuesday when a car in which six engineering students were travelling in skidded off the tracks and crashed into the wilderness.

Taking place close to the Kamshet tunnel, Pune, three of the six engineering students were instantly killed when their vehicle swerved away from the pavement and out into the woods. Motorcyclists who witnessed the accident rushed to the scene and rescued three out of the car who were in critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Aditya Bhandarkar, Yash Shirali and Abhishek.

Two succumbed to their injuries in the hospital while one is said to be in a critical condition.

It is unclear whether the students were in inebriated condition or not during the accident. But it is alleged that the driver was speeding on the highway when he lost control of the wheels.
