New Delhi: Anurag Thakur, BCCI president and BJP MP on Friday was commissioned into the Territorial Army (TA). The 41-year-old is the first BJP member to be a regular army officer.
Thakur is attached to the Sikh regiment and will undergo a month-long rigorous training. Thakur made it to the TA after clearing an exam and a personal interview conducted in Chandigarh.
On Friday morning, he was seen in Parliament dressed up in his army uniform.
The Territorial Army (TA) is the second line of defence after the Indian Army. The TA consists of volunteers who receive military training for about a month and in case of any national emergency, can be mobilised for the nation.
