New Delhi: A  45-year-old man was crushed to death by a tanker after his motorcycle got stuck in a pothole in Vasant Kunj. The incident happened on Saturday evening.

Praveen, a resident of Uttam Nagar, fell off the motorbike and was run by the tanker, police said. The driver of the tanker fled the spot immediately after dumping his vehicle, they added.

“The incident took place at 7.15 pm, when Praveen was on his way home from Chhatarpur,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Nupur Prasad.

Praveen died due to head injuries and excessive bleeding.

“The doctors said Praveen died due to head injuries and excessive bleeding. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination at AIIMS and his family members have been informed,” a senior police officer.

The family members of the victim said that action must be taken against concerned civic authorities for not fulfilling their responsibility to construct proper roads in monsoon.

A case was registered at the Vasant Kunj police station and they are looking for the driver of the tanker.
