Mumbai: A day after a bridge on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway collapsed, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to immediately undertake repair work. He ordered the repairing work to be completed before August 25.

“This repair work should be done immediately, before coming Ganesh Festival,” sources quoted Fadnavis as saying. As per latest reports, four bodies were retrieved by rescue team and local residents on Thursday.

Authorities confirmed that a total of 24 people were travelling on the British era bridge when the tragic incident occurred. The bodies were found at 2 different locations- one at Harihareshwar beach and another at Anjarle beach.

The body of bus driver who was driving the Jaigarh-Mumbai bus was discovered by locals at Anjarle beach. Another body is that of an elderly woman.
