Chhattisgarh: In a first, a new railway track is under construction in Naxal-affected Bhanupratappur area in Chhattisgarh. The construction site is under surveillance of security forces.

Speaking about the new railway track which is being constructed in the area, a local said, “Have to travel over 35 kms to board trains, construction of this railway track will make commuting easier.”

“Naxals had dig up roads near area making it inconvenient for us to travel, with railway lines being built, we will be able to travel safe,” the local added.

Parts of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have always been prone to Naxalite attacks; therefore having train connectivity in the region could help the local around there.

Earlier on July 29, at least 3 Naxals were gunned down by police in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma District.  Several guns, a tiffin bomb, wireless set, posters, banners, detonators, etc were also been seized from the site of the encounter.
