Srinagar: One terrorist was killed on Saturday as the army foiled an infiltration bid across the Line of Control (LoC) into Indian territory in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, as per defence sources.
“Alert troops of the army challenged intruding terrorists on the LoC in Nowgam sector of Kupwara district. One terrorist was killed in the ensuing operation against the terrorists,” said a source, adding that the operation was still on “but the infiltration attempt by the terrorists had been foiled”.
Earlier, following the core meeting BJP Jammu and Kashmir president Sat Sharma said, “At the meeting of core group, we discussed the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the situation in the Valley. The party, both state unit and the central unit of the BJP, is worried about it.”
“We will speak to the state government, which is already working for the restoration of peace, and also send a delegation to meet the Central Government so that the peace process that was started after the formation of the government could be expedited.”
