4 people are reported to be dead after a blast ripped off at a construction site in Hyderabad’s Nanakram Guda.
According to reports, the explosion ripped apart a DCM lorry leaving 4 dead at the construction site of Phoneix Spaces Private Limited in the Special Economic Zone.
the lorry was carrying gelatin sticks to be used for rock blasting at the site that was covered with blue metal sheets, according to police. The blast was heard in Jubilee hills as well, left only mangled parts of the veicle at the construction site.
The sound triggered panic among the people in the vicinity with metal pieces of the lorry falling on their residences. The panic-struck resdents ran out of their houses hearing the explosion.
Police have cordoned off the entire area and investigation has been initiated into the matter.
Various versions of the incident have been coming out through eye-witnesses. According to a vernacular media report, 2 more people have been injured in the incident. One identified as Ramesh has suffered a pelvic bone fracture while the right leg of another person, Naresh, is totally crushed. According to reports, the surgeons are saying that the leg would have to be amputated. Both are however stated to be out of danger.
“The blast occurred due to mishandling of the gelatin sticks while carrying them in the vehicle along with boulders,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Madhapur) A. Venkateswara Rao was quoted as saying.
“We will collect more information from the injured to know the circumstances that led to the blast,” Assistant Commissioner of Police N. Shyam Prasada Rao told reporters.
If necessary, the assistance of Controller of Explosives would be consulted to ascertain the number of explosives carried in the vehicle, Prasad added on being asked if there was any possibility of the terrorist being involved in the blast.
