Chennai: Considering the call by doctors who have indicated that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jajalalithaa’s stay in the hospital could be longer, the speculations that the party can name a stand-by are arising.
Following these developments, Tamil Nadu Ministers O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi K. Palanisamy and Chief Secretary to Government on Friday met the state Governor C.H. Vidyasagar Rao to discuss key issues related to AIADMK Chief’s health and state administration. This meeting has given rise to speculations of whether the state administration is considering options of going in for an interim Chief Minister during the time that Jajalalithaa takes to recover.
According to reports, the discussion between Tamil Nadu minsiters and governor also focussed on how the state was being run and about how the state administration was planning the visit of a team of experts to study the onging Cauvery water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Earlier in the day, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi after visiting Apollo Hospitals in Chennai had said that the Jayalalithaa was on the road to recovery.
Gandhi had told reporters that Jayalalithaa, who was admitted to the hospital last month, was going to be all right. Her health is improving, he said. Gandhi was at the hospital for over 30 minutes and enquired about the AIADMK leader’s health.
