New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Finance Minister O Panneerselvam will chair a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday for the first time since Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was admitted to the hospital.
The session will be held at the state Secretariat as the chief minister is undergoing medical treatment.
The meeting is likely to discuss ongoing Cauvery water sharing row with Karnataka. Farmers and political parties on Monday staged state-wide rail blockade urging the Centre to constitute the Cauvery Management Board.
Last week, Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao handed over the portfolios handled by Jayalalithaa – who is currently at the Apollo Hospitals since September 22 – to Panneerselvam based on her advice.
Earlier, opposition leaders questioned how the ailing Chief Minister Jayalalithaa told the Governor to allocate her portfolios to the finance minister.
