New Delhi: The Congress Party has raised questions about the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists jailbreak incident where eight activists escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday night.

The party general secretary and former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh on Twitter questioned whether the incident is a government-initiated scheme.

“Did they flee or were they made to flee?” tweeted Singh.

He pointed out how the state government has failed in doing its duty.

Singh demanded an inquiry into the matter and called on the Central government to take up appropriate measures to avoid communal riots following the incident.

All the eight convicts were gunned down by the police near Eintkhedi village on the outskirts of Bhopal.
