New Delhi: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Wednesday announced one of the biggest drug seizures in the country after Rs 3,000 crore in narcotic substance was recovered from a factory in Udaipur. A Bollywood producer was also arrested in the case.

According to reports, DRI officials raided Marudhar Drinks company based in Udaipur on October 28 and came upon a room where banned Mandrax tablets were stuffed in huge cartons.

“The total number of tablets are estimated to be about 2 crore in numbers with a weight of about 23.5 metric tonnes. The international market value of seized tablets is estimated to be over Rs. 3,000 crore,” NDTV quoted Najib Shah, CBEC chairperson, as saying.

Shah said Bollywood film producer Subash Dudhani was also arrested in the case. He also said that Dudhani has businesses and properties in Mumbai.

Mandrax tablets, aka M-Pills, are pills which are usually smoked with cannabis in Africa and Asia.

“The consignment was manufactured in Rajasthan and consigned for Mozambique or South Africa,” Shah said.

In the past, Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni was also accused of her involvement in the Thane drug seizure case.
