Lucknow: Ahead of the upcoming assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in an exclusive interview to NewsX, said that the party is united, despite the public thinking otherwise.
This was the first instance when the Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, state president Shivpal Yadav and CM Akhilesh Yadav were seen together on a the same stage after the family feud. Party president Mulayam Singh flagged-off Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘Rath Yatra’.
Akhilesh Yadav, said his Rath Yatra has gained huge support from the public and they would emerge victorious again. Akhilesh also mentioned that Samajwadi Party is the only party in UP that has managed to work as a secular force and work for the development of all the communities.
Akhilesh seemed open to the idea of a coalition government and said secular forces are most welcome to join the Samajwadi Party, therefore sidelining Bharatiya Janata Party. However, Akhilesh also said that the coalition would be decided by the party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Akhilesh Yadav began his Samajwadi Vikas ‘Rath Yatra’ from Lucknow to the neighbouring district Unnao on Thursday.
However, the Rath (Mercedes bus) faced technical glitch and attempts were made to fix it. The hi-tech customised bus of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had to switch to his official vehicle to continue his state-wide tour.
