New Delhi: The Union Culture and Tourism Ministry on Sunday announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the new face of popular Incredible India campaign.

The last ambassador of the campaign was Bollywood actor Aamir Khan. But after his ouster over the ‘intolerance’ remark, the role was lying vacant.

No Bollywood actor will be engaged for the campaign aimed at attracting foreign travellers, an official said.

The tourism ministry will be using PM Modi’s earlier videos in which he has talked about boosting tourism in India and abroad.

“The ministry is planning to use — for radio and audio release — two types of videos of different durations where Modi had talked about the uniqueness and diversity of the various places in the country,” the official said.

Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma had earlier suggested for PM Modi’s name, saying he is the best face to promote the campaign.
