New Delhi: Even with the debilitating effect of the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir following the death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, the Jammu University has attained A+ award through NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council).

The NAAC, an autonomous organisation established by the UGC, granted A+ award to the Jammu University. Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Director of Internal Quality Assurance, said, “University of Jammu has been awarded A+ grade (Cycle III 2009-2016) with CGPA of 3.51, thereby making the University a part of an elite group of A+ Institutions.”

“The Assessment and Accreditation is done by a Peer Team of eminent academicians and academic administrators,” she added.

With this accreditation, the University of Jammu will be included in the list of elite A+ institutions in the country. The NAAC team had visited the JU campus from September 27 to 30 to assess the inner workings of the university for quality assessment.

Dr Kilam said that JU’s success relied upon the constant monitoring of NAAC assessment process by the Vice Chancellor of the university.
