Punjab: In response to the Supreme Court’s verdict on Sutlej-Yamuna link canal row, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday said Punjab will not share water with any other state.
“Assi eh pehlan hi clear karta si, kisi nu paani di ikk boond nahi deyange. Punjab da koi paani baahar nahi jayega (We clarified it already that none will get even a single drop of water from Punjab), Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said.
He also said nobody can dare to take water from Punjab in presence of Akali government.
“This is my commitment to farmers of Punjab that not a single drop will go out. We are ready for any kind of sacrifice but water will not go out,” said Sukhbir.
The SAD leaders called for an emergency meeting after the Supreme Court’s verdict and a decision taken at the meeting said that Punjab govt would not allow SYL to be built at any cost.
Sukhbir and his father Parkash Singh Badal addressed the media in Punjab.
“Our main aim is to not let the water go, and we will do anything for that,” said Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, adding: “As far as legal steps are concerned, our advocate will advise us on what can be legally done.”

“In a nutshell, all I can say is Punjab ka paani nahin jaayega, nahin jaayega, nahin jaayega,” added Badal.
Slamming Congress for playing politics, the Punjab CM said that he wants to assure the people of Punjab that only Akalis can do it and resignation by Congress MLAs is just a drama.
“Our main aim is to not let the water go, and we will do anything for that,” Parkash said.
“As far as legal steps are concerned, advocate will advise us on what can be legally done,” he added.
