New Delhi: A group of people staged protest against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at Gandhi Nagar market on Saturday. The incident occurred when he visited the middle-income commercial-cum-residential area in the East Delhi to check out the situation.
Earlier, Kejriwal made a visit to Azadpur market and met small traders at the wholesale market.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the surprise demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes is a harassment against common people. He said Modi should take action against the “big and powerful corrupt” rather than harassing the ‘aam aadmi’.
Following the announcement of demonetisation on November 8, there were reports of chaos and panic over shortage of essential goods supplies in shops across the country.
A ration shop in Madhya Pradesh reportedly resorted to violence after the owners said they would not be providing ration. There was panic buying of the essential items such as salt and sugar in Hyderabad.
The incident happened day after the salt shortage rumours broke out in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
