Bhopal: In what can be seen as a relief for millions of people post demonetisation, the new Rs 500 notes on Sunday were issued by the government.
The newly launched Rs 500 currency made an appearance in banks nationwide.
People have been eagerly waiting for new Rs 500 notes after government took the decision to ban two big value currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 in order to crack down on black money and corruption.
However, new Rs 2000 notes were out in the public but several reports have come that it wasn’t being accepted in the market because of the shortage in the change. But now that when new Rs 500 notes are once again available, it is expected to solve peoples problem who have been standing in long queues to deposit or exchange the banned notes.
Prime Minister in his address to the nation on Tuesday had announced that in order to put a menace and crackdown on black money, the government will demonitise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes and they will be replaced by new Rs 500 and Rs 2,0000 notes which will be available in the ATMs from November 11.
However, PM also said that there was no need to panic as people will be able to deposit or exchange banned notes through Banks, Post Offices between Novermber 10 and December 30.
Prime Minister on Saturday also said that he was aware of the hardship people were facing in India because of the demonetisation move, but emphasized that it was necessary in the larger interests of the nation.
