New Delhi: An army jawan and two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning.

The encounter started early morning in the Manzpora area of Nahidkhai village in Bandipora.

The 22 Rashtriya Rifles jawans posted along the LoC noticed some suspicious movement near the international border on Thursday evening, after which the entire area was cordoned off.

“The jawans retaliated and killed two terrorists. Unfortunately, one of our soldiers suffered gunshots wound and succumbed to his injuries. We suspect that some of the terrorists managed to flee,” sources in the army said.

In another operation in Tujjar village of Baramulla district, security forces surrounded a house where a local militant was reportedly in.
He was later arrested by police and has been identified as Majeed Mir, a local from Sopore’s Tujjar.
