New Delhi: All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of the Parliament (MP) Mithun Chakraborty resigned from the Rajya Sabha on Monday citing health reasons.
Mithun joined the Parliament and became an MP after he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee for TMC in West Bengal Rajya Sabha Assembly Polls which were held on February 7, 2014.

Mithun’s real name is Gourang Chakraborty but he is commonly referred as ‘Mithun Da’. Mithun began his career in the Indian film industry as a junior artist and went on to establish himself as a superstar.
Mithun was the only actor to outnumber superstar Amitabh Bacchan after the success of Pyar Jhukta Nahi in 1985. Mithun is also known for his dancing style which is a fusion of “Disco and Desi”. He is also recognized as one of the best “dancing-heroes” in Bollywood.
