Guwahati: In a blatant exhibition of VIP racism, a BJP MLA from Assam Dimbeswar Das ‘forced’ an engineer, who works as junior engineer in a development block to touch his feet.
According to reports, the incident took place when the engineer asked MLA’s driver to remove the law-maker’s car from the main entrance of the official function.
Speaking further on the issue, Associate Editor of Inside Me, Pallav Bora — who is associated with the website which has actually managed to access this particular footage said, “This happened on January 19 and the incident took place in a development block. The function was the ‘Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana’ where the MLA’s car was parked at the main entrance of the function venue. When the engineer asked the driver of the MLA to remove the car from the main entrance, he complained to the MLA who later compelled the engineer to ask for his forgiveness, for an offence which he did not commit.”
However, the MLA in question claims that he never asked the engineer to touch his feet. The Congress and the BJP have slammed the MLA.
Denying all allegations against him, BJP MLA Dimbeshwar Das said, “I stopped him and asked him not to touch my feet. I asked him to have food … I don’t know what was happening outside as I was in a meeting at that time … I didn’t do anything wrong or compell him to do anything.”
