A journalist was beaten up with lathis by the brother of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan in Andhra Pradesh’s Chirala town on Monday.

According to reports, the journalist M Nagarjuna Reddy was bashed in broad daylight for exposing the alleged corrupt activities of TDP MLA’s brother Amanchi Swamulu.

In a news report that was published in a local magazine, Nagarjuna had alleged that the TDP MLA and his brother had taken loans from the banks in the name of candidates belong to the economically backward sections.

When the loan was not paid on time, the banks approached the people under whose names the loans were availed.

The victim was chased by Swamulu and six others and was beaten ruthlessly with sticks and other weapons.

He cried for help as the onlookers watched helplessly. The victim was later taken to hospital where doctors said his condition is critical.

A case has been registered against Swamulu and six others.
